The Freedom of Location

We are not only seeking financial freedom, we also ache for location's freedom.

At least, this is what I realized when I acquired a condominium last April 24, 2025.

Last Wednesday, we finally transferred some of our things in our newly acquired condominium.

We hired a jeepney to bring all our stuff. I can't believe we accumulated a lot of belongings that can occupy two houses even when I threw a lot of things already.

The plan was to acquire a house near my work and my kid's school. Since January, I've been looking for a house or a Condo in Mandaluyong, Pasig, and Taguig. When I finally get one that suits my budget, I realized that I can't afford a Condominium near these places.

I found one, though in Imus, Cavite, around four hours away from work and school.

Since I acquired it already, kinailangan ko ng pangatawanan ito. I wrestled between buying a car or renting a small apartment nearby. I settled to the latter because buying a car and its maintenance is more expensive.

Along the process of moving, having two houses (Condo and Apartment), I have to give up a lot including my dog and my plants. Since we have a small apartment and condo with rules and regulations, I can't bring them in. The dog is still my problem up to this point.

I am also too exhausted. My boss did not allow me to have additional PTOs, I have to do everything after work.

My heart ache in the realization that yes, I now have a condo I can call my own, but no we can't live in it. We can just visit it from time to time because I have work to do.

If only...

Every time I am seeing my condo, I can't help but think of passive income because this is what will give me the location freedom that I long for. I can work wherever I go. I will not be tied anymore in the travel to and pro. And yeah, I can stay in my Condo whenever I want, I do not need to beg for PTO anymore.

But of course, I acknowledge the fact that this will never happen right away. I need preparation. I need to have the smooth transition from being a working mom to free mom without being bothered by my finances.

This will all start with savings. They say that it's not about how much you earn but how much you save that counts toward freedom. The earlier you do it, the better.

I will update you on where I am in this new journey to financial freedom and location in my next blog posts. For now, suffice it to show you where I am now and where I will go... my point A to point B. What are the things that I am struggling and doing? How I am solving each and every problem that comes my way? What are my step-by-step plan and framework?

When you stick around, you will learn from me.
